WHAT KIND OF CHURCH ARE WE?
- Grace Bible Church is IFCA International church that emphasizes expository preaching of God’s Word. For more information see “What is an Independent Bible Church”.
- We are a family of believers who use the Bible as the only guide for our faith and practice.
- We desire to find God’s answers to life’s questions.
- We are His by His GRACE
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;
it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
Ephesians 2:8-10 NKJV
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Our purpose at GBC is to glorify God by making and equipping disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Central Valley and beyond through His GRACE.
"Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ." - Colossians 1:28 ESV
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20 ESV
Glorifying God by worship
Reaching out to one another by fellowship
Acclaiming the Good News by missions/evangelism
Committing ourselves to God's Word
Equipping leaders by discipleship/mentoring
The following five topics are the most important tenants to us. We hold to these strongly. They are not negotiable.
1. Commitment to God
We will daily seek God through prayer, Bible study, and Scripture memory. We will strive to deny ourselves and display a life of integrity, sacrifice, and character in our pursuit to become more like Christ, and together to glorify Him through worship, prayer, and celebration of the Lord’s Supper and baptism.
2. Commitment to God’s Word
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, our final authority, and sufficient to guide us in everything we do, as individuals and as a body of believers.
3. Commitment to fellow believers
We highly value unity, fellowship, and meeting one another’s spiritual and physical needs.
4. Commitment to evangelism and church planting
We place a high priority on reaching the unbelieving world with the gospel in a personal and relevant way, and planting churches that reproduce both here and abroad.
5. Commitment to discipleship and Leadership development
We have a passion to enhance the spiritual growth of every believer through life-on-life relationships in order to bring them to maturity in Christ and equip them to lead and serve others.
We seek to be an Antioch-like church through God’s grace. We desire to be a family of believers who provide a warm, inviting, and loving atmosphere where everyone is encouraged and equipped for ministry. According to God’s will we want to accomplish the following by the year 2020:
Be recognized by God and all the Central Valley as a God-fearing congregation. Train 20 elders, 40 deacons, & 40 deaconesses; disciple two-thirds of the congregation to spiritual maturity so they will be active in our ministries; reach 100 people by conversion and integrate them into the body; equip & send four home grown missionaries out from our church; increase our Missions giving to 25% of our General Fund; and plant 4 churches.
